CCPA Iraq organizes big tournament in Baghdad

After taking part in a training seminar with the German NGO, BuntKicktGut, instructors from CCPA Iraq developed their own tournament structure for Iraqi children based on the German initiative.
The first tournament gathered more than 300 boys and girls representing 30 teams from all over Baghdad. The children included children with Sunnite, Shiite and Kurdish backgrounds.
The main focus of the tournament was fair play, and the children and youth were responsible for refereeing their own matches. It is the idea of CCPA Iraq to involve the children and youth as much as possible in the organization of the tournament, and before the games began, responsible players from all teams took part in a small meeting. This group of players from the different teams will assist CCPA Iraq in the coming tournaments over the next months.
The teams came from all over Baghdad, and each team should consist of 2-3 players who had earlier participated in Open Fun Football Schools, and 5 new players between 7 and 14 years. By this, many new boys and girls will learn about CCPA Iraq and its activities.
This first CCPA Iraq tournament was a big success, not only for the participating children, but also for the many local spectators and families who supported the teams.
The tournament will continue in the coming months, and CCPA Iraq hopes to involve children from all over Iraq in the next tournament.
