Background of the Initiative

The CCPA has been a pioneer in leveraging the universal appeal of football to foster peace and social cohesion. Launched in 1998, our Open Fun Football Schools (OFFS) have successfully brought together communities in over 24 countries, emphasizing inclusivity and engagement across societal divides. In Moldova, OFFS began in 2006 and has since reached over 98,000 children and involved 12,000 parents, alongside empowering 2,900 volunteer leaders and coaches.

Strategic Vision and Framework

The current initiative aims to establish a robust Cross-sectoral Social Prevention network (CSP) that extends beyond the football field. The CSP network seeks to anchor and expand upon the foundations set by OFFS, focusing on proactive social prevention, child protection, and youth empowerment. This network will facilitate cross-sector collaboration, significantly impacting local communities and fortifying collective resilience against social adversities.

Activities and Impact

The project’s activities are organized into clusters that address various aspects of community and personal development:

  1. CSP Network Building: Recruitment and training of local CSP teams to enhance cross-sector collaboration and capacity building.
  2. CSP Confidence Building through OFFS: Organizing football schools to promote integration and community spirit.
  3. CSP Capacity Building: Workshops to develop action plans tailored to local needs, focusing on social prevention tools and strategies.
  4. CSP in Operation: Implementation of community-based interventions to address conflicts and social issues.
  5. Knowledge Sharing and Lessons Learned: Regular meetings and workshops to refine strategies and share best practices across the CSP network.

Added Value and Strategic Alignment

The initiative directly aligns with Moldova’s police reforms and the European Union’s civic engagement standards, emphasizing child protection and the integration of community policing into broader social frameworks. Furthermore, it supports Sweden’s Strategy for Reform Cooperation, emphasizing the importance of social prevention and community-based approaches.
