Cross Cultures is deeply touched by the war in Ukraine, which is affecting our colleagues, their families and the entire Ukrainian people. Since 2010, Cross Cultures has been active in nine eastern regions of Ukraine and has been working with AUFCR (All-Ukrainian Foundation for Children’s Rights) ever since. Our partners from AUFCR have a message for the whole world about how they experience the war in Ukraine.

Message from AUFCR in Ukraine:
“Since February 24, 2022, Ukraine has been subjected to military aggression by the Russian Federation. Disregarding the Humanitarian Law and the rules of warfare, the Russian army conducts targeted shelling of residential areas, hospitals, orphanages, schools, kindergartens.

Fighting, airstrikes, artillery shelling and overall violence across Ukraine have killed 17 children since 24 February to 1 March period. But their attacks are becoming more aggressive and aimed at the destruction of the civilians. Russian military forces are using non-Conventional weapons , including vacuum bombs.

According to Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights report “damage and destruction to civilian infrastructure in areas of active fighting and those affected by airstrikes and shelling continue to impede people’s access to water, food, healthcare and other basic services “.

Listen to the head of General Military Staff of RF. He says that only military facilities in Ukraine are being shelled, civilians are safe. Do not believe, please: this is a cynical lie.

On 26 February the biggest hospital for children with serious diagnosis in Kyiv was bombed. Moreover, the aggressor waited for the evacuation and began shelling the cars that evacuated children. The military of the Russian Federation still kill civilians on the streets, private cars, everywhere.

This boy, born in 2008 was killed in the yard of his house. The young woman in a small red car with her little 4 years old son was killed in Kyiv oblast. They were stopped by a Russian soldier and shot from his gun. There were witnesses and the crime is recorded. The boy is alive, he is in intensive care. In Kharkiv city, during the bombing, the young family were killed at the basement, mom and dad. They left two newborns kids. There are alarming reports of major disruptions occurring in neonatology units: high risk premature babies require intensive monitoring that cannot take place in bomb shelters.

AUFCR extremely concerns about the life, physical safety and survival of all children in Ukrainian. Our army is strong and protecting us. Our people are brave and courageous: without weapons we stop tanks, hold meetings of protest in the occupied cities, make Molotov cocktails for uninvited “guests”.

We will never give up, we will never exchange our goals and ideas for Russian Mordor!!! What do we need right now: shelter for our sky, we extremely need to be a part of European family and defensive guarantees from NATO.”
