Together in the Gori the stakeholders of the OFFS+SSP team made concrete strategic planning on Persons Acting in Time and Space based on results from group work discussions of 8 steps.
On the first day, before the workshop started, the Leaders group had a formal meeting. 21 participants from the local sports, school, social and police sector plus 5 Cross Cultures staff were attending.
The Leaders Group was briefed on the Board Meeting, which took place the day before.
The first sessions of the workshop contained the welcoming and introductory presentation of Cross Cultures on Open Fun Football Schools + Sport+School+Police initiative, funded by EU. The EU Call objectives and the projects main goals were emphasized. The SSP Handbook was introduced.
Further representatives from the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Ministry of Internal Affairs gave presentations on their activities and their partnership in this program. Gori Governor and Gori Mayor plus heads of the Sport and Culture section of Gori Municipality, Amputated Invalids’ Football Club, Local Educational Center and the director of Public School gave short speeches for the plenary discussion.
The overall discourse is the warm welcome of the project as is an extension of the Open Fun Football Schools program. The extension is described as meaningful and needed. Further, the stakeholders expressed their great support and will to extend the project to more than the 18 planned months.
The participants of the workshop were introduced to a Strategy Development tool, designed by Cross Cultures specifically for this workshops purpose that leaded them through the development process in 8 steps.
One of the workshops were to build the OFFS+SSP story in LEGO. The results of the three cross-sector groups are as following:
Story 1: OFFS+SSP is not only about the events here and now or the next year. It is not about a group of children, youth, parents and personnel in daily contact with children. It is about taking responsibility for our countries future. A safe country with more tourism, national proudness, security at the borders, international investors, sustainable natural resources, friendly relations and children with healthy behavior and active participation. OFFS+SSP has a big meaning for us, because it is not only about the children playing and having fun, it is our future.
Story 2: The SSP pitch symbolizes healthy lifestyle. There is security, we make friendships and foster confidence, we are proud of our country, sponsors are interested and engaged, children are playing and having fun, the sun is shining, we eat fruits (right corner in bottom of pitch, symbolizing healthy food habits), we work on cross sector cooperation and we are in dialogue with motivated parents. The DJ is playing music and we are in nice surroundings. The car on the left is the investigators vehicle, developing the local community.
Story 3: The police officers are showing their equipment on the pitch. Children are having fun and become friends with the local officers, who are playing with them. The pitch is constructed of all the contributions of all stakeholders (small items), and the child is in the center of this. It Is funny and we are in a happy atmosphere. We are playing music. The goalkeepers are in national clothes – we are proud. Teachers and parents are present. We have not forgotten to bring water to everybody.
