Open Fun Football Schools: Ukraine

This year Open Fun Football Schools implemented by the Football Federation of Ukraine gained new strength. FFU Social Projects “Open Fun Football Schools” and “Play Away, Play Everywhere” significantly expanded network of grassroots volunteers and in a single season covered 56 districts in each region of Ukraine. Open Fun Football Schools Project is realized by the Football Federation of Ukraine and Cross Cultures Project Association (Denmark) and received additional support for its large-scale implementation for internally displaced children from Donbas in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Kharkiv regions.
Streetfootballworld GmbH provides its assistance under the Project of “Psychosocial support and work with conflicts” – one of the German Government’s Infrastructure programmes initiatives for Ukraine and is implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ GmbH).
Play Away, Play Everywhere Project is implemented by the FFU together with the Charity Fund “Development of Football in Ukraine” and is supported by UEFA Foundation for Children. Both projects aim to help internally displaced children and overcome their alienation from local children by the means of grassroots football.
This season regional projects are implemented through regional federations in the following areas. 5-6-days Open Fun Football Schools under the principle “Football for everyone” with an emphasis on psychological and social help for internally displaced children by the means of grassroots football·
regular weekly mass sports events with participation of internally displaced children and involvement of the maximum number of volunteers in the districts and cities of the region; · involvement of all children and youth football schools in the region (and secondary schools with football sections) by agreements on free acceptance of internally displaced children to playing football, regardless of the abilities of the child·
Excursions to football museums, autograph sessions with famous players, involvement of children in pre-match line ceremonies with the teams, provision of necessary for trainings kits and equipment to children; · attraction of investors and benefactors for arrangement of football pitches in areas of compact residence of internally displaced people and for joint help for children.
